The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Marathon man on Saturday after he issued threats to a woman who turned down his sexual advances.
Nicholas Kevin Chew, 41, was charged with intimidation by threatening to kill or injure.
Around 2:46 p.m., deputies responded to a report of threats via text message. After speaking with the victim, deputies obtained a copy of the conversation that took place. The victim reported that she feared for her safety and was afraid to return home, due to Chew’s specific threats.
“I will blow your f—ing house up.” texted Chew, according to the police report.
The conversation began innocently enough around 11:58 a.m., with Chew asking the victim if he could join her for a beer, but it soon escalated into Chew asking for sex. However, the victim denied it, for a very specific reason.
“You do know I’m gay, right?” wrote the victim.
Chew continued to press her for sex, and also asked her not to tell his girlfriend. By 2:03 p.m., the victim was asking to be left alone.
After meeting with the victim, deputies went to Chew’s residence, where they attempted to speak with him. He initially tried to speak through the window, asking why the deputies were there.
“I think you know why I’m here,” said a deputy, according to the report.
The deputy ultimately stated that he didn’t want a situation to erupt between Chew and his girlfriend while speaking through the window. Chew went outside to speak with the deputy, where he stated that the whole thing was a joke, but the victim was threatening his relationship and character. Deputies placed Chew under arrest, after which he demanded to speak with a lawyer.
Chew was transported to the Monroe County Detention Center, but was released later that day.
