STOCK ISLAND — Three accused of breaking into a residence Tuesday night were arrested after a neighbor called deputies, because she knew no one was home, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Steven Solstad, 28, Raymond Leto, 18, and a 16-year-old boy, all of Stock Island, were all charged with burglary and criminal mischief.

The neighbor told Deputy Vince Pacifico she heard the men breaking into the residence next to hers on Miriam Street just before midnight, reports say. She knew no one was at home, so she called the Sheriff’s Office.

When Deputy Pacifico arrived, he found signs of a break-in, including plywood shutters that had been forced open and a broken window, reports say.

He heard voices inside an outbuilding on the property and saw flashlights shining inside. When he announced his presence, the lights were turned off and the men stopped talking, reports say.

They were all taken to the Monroe County Detention Center on Stock Island.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
