Two illegal immigrants were arrested on Sunday after they got into a physical altercation in the middle of the intersection of Duval and Greene streets.
Guillermo Garcia Arias, 30, was charged with disorderly conduct — brawling, and Jelson Fernandez, 22, was charged with disorderly conduct — brawling and possession of cocaine.
Around 3 a.m., Key West Police Department officers witnessed the two men actively engaged in a fight in the middle of the street. After detaining them, officers searched the two men and subsequently found a small baggie of cocaine on Fernandez.
The men were then transported to the Monroe County Detention Center. At this point, officers discovered they were unable to locate any identification information on Fernandez. Garcia Arias had a Guatemalan passport in his possession.
Both men ultimately admitted to being in the country illegally. At the time of the report, officers were not able to confirm the identities of either man.
