Two Homestead men were arrested this week after two handguns were found during an Upper Keys traffic stop.
Al Salazar, 27, and Gabriel Martinez, 22, both were charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a license. Martinez was also charged with driving with a suspended license.
Upper Keys Deputy Joel Torres and Sgt. Orlando Alvarez stopped a Honda Civic at Mile Marker 103 at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, after running the tags and finding the owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. The owner, Martinez, was driving the car.
The odor of marijuana was present in the car. Martinez stated his license was suspended for failure to pay tickets, then added there was a small amount of marijuana in a container behind the driver’s seat. Deputy Torres searched the vehicle, finding the container, as well as a loaded 9mm handgun under the passenger front floor mat and a loaded .357 Magnum revolver under the front driver’s side floor mat.
Martinez and Salazar were taken to jail.
