A North Lauderdale, Florida man was arrested on Wednesday for marijuana possession and a suspended license after deputies spotted him driving with a broken headlight.

Steve Markson Cineas, 27, was charged with knowingly driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of paraphernalia and giving a false ID to an officer.

Around 12:20 a.m., a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling Marathon near Mile Marker 55 when he saw a vehicle with a non-working left headlight. The deputy pulled over the vehicle and met with the driver, late identified as Cineas, and explained the reason for the stop.

Cineas stated he was unaware that the headlight was out, adding that the vehicle belonged to his uncle and he was just driving from Duck Key to grab a snack at a gas station, according to the report. When asked for his license, Cineas stated he didn’t have it on him, but he did provide a birthdate and a name, “Fabio M. Moura.” However, Cineas quickly admitted he had given a false name because his license was suspended.

The deputy confirmed his license was suspended due to financial obligations and then detained him. A search of Cineas’ vehicle revealed a silver metal grinder with marijuana inside, as well as a hand-rolled marijuana cigar, according to the report. The marijuana weighed a total of .8 grams.

Cineas was arrested and transported to the Marathon jail, but he was released later the same day.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
