KEY WEST — A 31-year-old man accused of having sex with a woman in a sport utility vehicle that was parked at the Catholic school parking lot in November was arrested Tuesday, according to an arrest affidavit.
The man, formerly of North Carolina, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The woman was apparently not charged in the incident.
The case began on Nov. 21 when police were called to the Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea school parking lot, 700 Truman Ave., at 3:48 p.m. by a witness who told officers a black Cadillac Escalade was parked near the playground area.
The witness told police he approached the SUV after hearing a female moaning, found the rear window was broken out and saw a woman in a black bikini top on top of the suspect clearly engaged in sexual intercourse, according to the affidavit.
The subjects screamed profanities at him after he told them to leave, reports say. The witness wished to press charges given children were in the vicinity, but no children were reported to have seen the couple.
Warrants were issued and the man was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center on Tuesday.
