A Palm Beach Gardens man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly threw a glass beer bottle into an adult entertainment club after being kicked out.

Andrew Jacob Arce, 29, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, throwing a missile into a building and resisting an officer without violence.

Around 1:45 a.m., Key West Police Department officers on foot patrol near the 200 block of Duval Street heard a beer bottle break nearby. The officers noticed a security guard pointing toward the direction of Sloppy Joe’s bar at a man. One officer ran toward the suspect, later identified as Arce, while the other spoke with security staff, according to the report.

The security staff explained Arce had been kicked out of the Red Garter Saloon because he was causing unspecified issues. On his way out, Arce reportedly threw a beer bottle at the feet of security staff, with the bottle breaking on the security guard’s shoes.

Arce ran from the police, cut through an alley and eventually ended up on Front Street. The officers were able to apprehend him near the Boathouse Restaurant, but he continued to resist arrest by pulling away and refusing to place his hands on his back. Officers ultimately were able to handcuff him after warning him that they would use their stun guns, according to the report.

A review of security footage at the Rick’s complex confirmed the security staff’s narrative, and officers arrested Arce.

Arce was transported to the Monroe County Detention Center, but he was released later the same day.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
