KEY LARGO — A traffic stop Sunday afternoon netted nearly 30 grams of cocaine, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Jesus Giovanni Ginjauma, 21, was charged with driving with license suspended, possession of cocaine, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputy Ben Elmore was on patrol at 1:45 p.m. near Key Largo Community Park when he spotted a dark green scooter which looked like it had no license tag, reports say. He stopped the scooter and discovered it had a license tag, but it had been painted over so it was unreadable.
The scooter driver was identified as Ginjauma, who had a driver’s license that had been suspended four times, reports say.
Six plastic bags containing a white powder that tested positive as cocaine were reportedly found in his pocket. Another bag reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine.
A controlled substance called Promethazine Hydrochloride was reportedly found in the seat compartment along with several items of drug paraphernalia.
Ginjauma was taken to jail.
