The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Marathon woman after finding cocaine, heroin, Xanax and paraphernalia on her person.

Deputies initially responded to a report of a woman in a fetal position on the ground near the Key Largo Dive Center. Upon arrival, deputies recognized Christa Marie Prkut, 44, from previous encounters.

According to the report, Prkut was acting odd and disoriented during her interaction with deputies, who asked her how she came to be laying on the ground. She explained that she was out the night before with an unidentified male who dropped her off in the parking lot. She was waiting for him to return when she fell asleep, and then woke up to the deputies.

She refused a search of her bags, but did let deputies watch while she looked through it. As she rummaged around in her bag, deputies noticed a small slit containing two clear bags with a white, powdery substance in it. Deputies then confiscated the bag and searched it, finding a spoon with residue, a broken glass pipe with residue and an unmarked pill bottle.

Emergency rescue medically cleared Prkut, but she requested to go to Mariners Hospital. After being released, deputies placed Prkut under arrest.

In total, deputies found .2 grams of heroin, .2 grams of cocaine, 10 Xanax pills, 4 Buspirone pills, a spoon with a case, an unmarked pill bottle and a glass pipe.

Prkut was charged with four counts of possession of paraphernalia, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and 14 counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
