MARATHON — Monroe County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in solving nine vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight last week on 50th Street and 50th Court.
There were no reported arrests as of Friday.
Detectives say all the vehicles were unlocked when they were burglarized, according to a press release.
Three cellphones and two flashlights were the only things of significance taken from the vehicles aside from some miscellaneous change, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin.
The Florida Keys typically sees an uptick in petty and serious theft during the winter months as snowbirds and tourists head into the county for the season.
The Sheriff’s Office often reminds residents to lock their vehicles, their homes and their boats, the last of which are often targets for fishing and dive gear as well as electronics.
Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
