The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Hollywood man on Friday for grand theft auto after finding him passed out behind the wheel of a stolen car.

Zacharia John Vinczencz, 28, was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Around 9:52 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a male passed out in a vehicle in a Subway parking lot in Tavernier. MCSO Dispatch ran the license plate number and alerted deputies that the car was stolen.

Deputies made contact with Vinczencz and detained him in handcuffs. According to the report, Vinczencz stated that he and his girlfriend had gotten into a fight, leading him to take her car and leave. A search of Vinczencz revealed he was in possession of one Clonazepam pill and one Hydromorphone Hydrochochloride pill, neither of which he had a prescription for.

Vinczencz was arrested and transported to the Plantation Key jail, where he was being held on a $40,000 bond.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
