The Key West Police Department arrested a Chicago, Illinois man on Wednesday after he slashed tires on three vehicles.

Ronald Edward Cox, 24, was charged with one count of criminal mischief over $200 and two counts of criminal mischief under $200.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Frances and Olivia streets, where they saw the three vehicles with flat tires. According to the report, a witness reported seeing Cox and his girlfriend in a verbal argument.

Cox spoke with officers and confirmed he had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend over her “response to a body painter who touched her.” He admitted that he had no excuse for stabbing the tires.

Officers were unable to make contact with two of the vehicle owners, but left a card with the case number on the vehicles.

Cox was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center. He was released the next day.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
