A woman decided to drive literally minutes after having her license seized on Tuesday, leading to an arrest for possession of a variety of controlled substance pills.
Marcia Ann Hake, 31, was charged with driving with a suspended license, resisting an officer without violence and seven felony counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Around 11:39 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop after seeing Hake parked in the wrong direction on a one-way street in Stock Island. After running her information through dispatch, the deputy determined Hake’s license was not valid. She seized her license, advised her she couldn’t drive and then let her go.
According to the report, the deputy then circled around to find the car was not there. A short search found the vehicle parked around the corner, with Hake in the driver’s seat and the car running. The deputy ordered Hake to exit the vehicle and go to her patrol car. However, as Hake exited the vehicle, the deputy saw her attempt to conceal or grab something.
Unsure of her intent, the deputy grabbed her and ordered her to stop. However, Hake began to swing her arms wildly to prevent the deputy from handcuffing her. The deputy was finally able to get her under control and searched her person. In her bra, Hake had two metal vials with a total of 30 pills in five different varieties. All the pills were identified as controlled substances, and Hake did not have a prescription for any of them.
Hake was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Detention Center, where she was being held on a bond of $38,500.
