The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Hialeah man on Saturday after he gave deputies a fake ID.
Alvaro Humberto Espinosa, 50, was charged with operating a motorcycle without a license, driving with a suspended license and giving a false ID to an officer.
Around 1:43 a.m., a deputy spotted Espinosa make an abrupt U-turn in an intersection in Marathon. Furthermore, the handlebars of the motorcycle were above the shoulder height of the operator, which violates Florida Statutes.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop, and met with Espinosa, who initially identified himself as “Luis Valdez” and gave a false date of birth. Espinosa stated he didn’t have his driver’s license, and the deputy tried to look up the provided name and date of birth in the Florida driver’s license records. However, no records matching the information could be found.
Espinosa then stated his last name was actually spelled “Valdes”, but the deputy still couldn’t find a matching driver’s license. The deputy detained Espinosa, who finally revealed his real identity as he was being put into the deputy’s patrol car. After running his ID, the deputy noted that Espinosa had a suspended driver’s license and he didn’t have a motorcycle endorsement. Espinosa explained that was why he gave a false ID.
Espinosa was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center, but he was released the following day after making his $30,000 bond.
