The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Kissimmee/St. Cloud, Florida, man on Thursday after they discovered large amounts of cocaine and marijuana, as well as a gun in his vehicle.
Dylan Paul Johnson, 34, was charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
Around 11:20 a.m., an undercover vehicle saw a car traveling southbound on U.S. 1, where it was following another vehicle too closely. The undercover deputy radioed ahead, and a marked patrol car conducted a traffic stop.
The deputy who conducted the traffic stop was accompanied by a Key West Police Department K-9 unit, and the K-9 immediately alerted to the presence of drugs in the car. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Glock 42 handgun under the driver’s seat, as well as 15.5 grams of cocaine hidden in a plastic panel near the center console. Deputies spotted another hidden panel near the gear shift, and inside they found 112.5 grams of marijuana, as well as seven suspected marijuana vapor cartridges.
According to the report, Johnson admitted ownership of the firearm and all illegal substances, stating it was all for personal use during Fantasy Fest.
The drugs and the handgun were seized as evidence.
Johnson was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center.
