A Key West man was arrested on Monday after he damaged his friend’s vehicle and two others with his bare hands in what seemed to be a drunken fit, according to a news release from the Key West Police Department.
Mihail Gorodenco, 25, was charged with three counts of damaging property over $1,000.
Around 3:30 a.m., police officers responded to the 800 block of Fleming Street for a report of an intoxicated subject beating on a parked vehicle. As soon as they arrived, they noticed a blue Nissan SUV with a broken windshield and a rear-view mirror twisted out of place.
According to the report, the passenger in the SUV told officers that the driver, later identified as Gorodenco, had damaged the car for no apparent reason. Gorodenco appeared extremely intoxicated and had bloody knuckles, and he was crawling on the sidewalk because he was unable to walk, according to the report.
Officers then spoke with the reporting person, who stated he saw Gorodenco damaging three other vehicles while he was yelling in the parking lot. Because Gorodenco appeared intoxicated, the witness said he was afraid he’d drive away.
An examination of nearby vehicles showed three with smears of blood on them, apparently from the suspect’s fists. Two of those three vehicles had significant damage, and including the SUV, the damages totaled to an estimated $3,200.
Gorodenco was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center, where he was released the following day after posting a $3,000 bond.
