The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Putnam County, Georgia man Saturday on a nationwide warrant after spotting his vehicle traveling in the Keys.
Jeff Cook, 56, was arrested for failing to show for his court sentencing that was scheduled for Friday. He was convicted in October of selling sporting event tickets without a license after he reportedly sold tickets and then failed to produce them for the buyers.
After Putnam County issued the warrant, an MCSO deputy spotted Cook’s vehicle traveling on U.S. Route 1 near Mile Marker 27.5 around 6 a.m., and subsequently arrested him.
He was transported to the Monroe County Detention Center where he was being held without bail.
Cook will later be returned to Georgia, where he will be sentenced.
