A Marathon man was arrested on Tuesday for grand theft after he stole more than $2,000 worth of tools from another man’s tool chest.

Christopher D. Saccente, 48, was charged with grand theft. This marks the fourth time Saccente has been charged with grand theft since the start of the year.

On Nov. 15, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported theft on Grassy Key. The victim stated that someone drilled the padlock to his tool chest, and he suspected it was Saccente, a groundskeeper of the property.

According to the report, his employer owns the trailer in which Saccente lives, and he found the missing tools inside. Prior to law enforcement arriving, the owner placed the tools on the front porch of the trailer.

Saccente was previously arrested in April for grand theft. Months later, on Oct. 16, Saccente was arrested for burglary and grand theft after he reportedly stole tools from a work site. In that incident, he also had stolen power tools in his trailer valued at $700. Days later, he was additionally charged with grand theft, burglary and trafficking stolen goods on Oct. 23. He was charged with violation probation on Nov. 8.

Saccente was already in jail at the Monroe County Detention Center, where he was given the additional charges. According to MCSO, Saccente’s bond is set at a total of $51,700 due to the numerous charges that are still pending.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
