A Key West man who was banging on a woman’s door and making lewd suggestions was arrested on Monday.

Osmel Garcia-Perez, 43, was charged with disorderly conduct and battery on a law enforcement officer.

Around 4:26 p.m., a Key West Police Department officer responded to the 1000 block of Atlantic Boulevard after the victim reported a man was banging on her car door. The officer met with the victim, and she pointed out the suspect, who was still nearby. The officer identified the man as Garcia-Perez, and according to the report, he appeared severely intoxicated, with a significant odor of alcohol coming from his breath, along with slurred speech.

The victim reported that Garcia-Perez walked over to her car, and began saying things like he would “buy her” and making obscene gestures with his hands and mouth. He then reportedly walked to her driver’s side door and attempted to pull it open, leading the victim to call 911.

The officer detained Garcia-Perez due to his high intoxication, and he later stated he drank three liters of vodka throughout the day. As the officer placed him in the patrol car, Garcia-Perez reportedly kicked his foot out of the car door and then stomped on the officer’s foot. This led the officer to punch him in the side in an attempt to get the car door closed.

Garcia-Perez was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center, where he was being held on a $5,000 bond.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
