GRASSY KEY — Two Key Largo men accused of illegally dumping debris on the side of U.S. 1 on Saturday were arrested, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Brian Walker, 54, and Erin Harbour, 47, were both charged with felony illegal dumping.

The Sheriff’s Office received a report of someone dumping debris at Mile Marker 58, reports say. When deputies arrived, they found a truck and trailer beside the road. The trailer was empty, but was stuck in the sand immediately adjacent to a large pile of tree limbs, leaves and stumps that appeared to be freshly cut.

In the truck were Walker and Harbour, report say. They both reportedly denied dumping the debris and Walker told differing stories about where he was going and what he was doing. At one point, he said he would help clean up the debris for a fee, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The pile of dumped debris measured 40 feet long, 12 feet wide and eight feet high. It exceeded the felony amount of 500 pounds.

Both men were taken to the Monroe County Detention Center.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
