A West Palm Beach, Florida man was arrested on Friday after leading law enforcement on a chase on U.S. 1.

German Sabin, 25, was charged with reckless driving and fleeing and eluding. He also was cited for improper use of a lane, driving on the left side of a no-passing zone, failure to heed no-passing zones and speeding.

Around 7:56 a.m., a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted a red and black sport bike passing vehicles using the center turn. The deputy turned on his lights and sirens to pull over the motorcycle, but its driver sped away after making obscene gestures with his right hand toward the deputy.

The driver, later identified as Sabin, accelerated to 70 mph and faster, pulling away from the deputy. Due to safety reasons, the deputy stopped his pursuit and contacted dispatch to inform them of the situation.

Several deputies spotted Sabin farther north on U.S. 1, and one deputy was able to apprehend him after Sabin got stuck in traffic near Coral Shores High School.

Sabin was arrested and transported to the Plantation Key jail, where he was being held without bond.

Information in the Crime Report is obtained from reports provided by area law enforcement agencies.
