A Key West man was arrested Friday for drug possession after police conducted a search warrant at his home at the Stadium Mobile Home Park.
Mohammed Masudur Rahman, 31, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
Around 6:30 a.m., the Key West Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at the Stadium on 14th Street, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations and Drug Enforcement Administration personnel.
Detectives conducted a search of Rahman’s trailer, where they found a plastic baggie that field-tested positive for cocaine on the floor of his bedroom. A search of a locked file cabinet revealed nine empty plastic baggies and two baggies containing a “pink, rock-like substance” that field-tested positive for cocaine and 2C. Additionally, numerous identifying documents bearing Rahman’s name were found in the file cabinet.
Rahman initially denied knowing about the drugs, stating he recently held a party and someone might have left them, according to the report. When detectives pointed out the drugs were found in a locked file cabinet near documents bearing his name, Rahman reportedly said “If you found something, I’m sorry.”
Rahman was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center, but he was released the following day.
The drug 2C, which comes in several variations such as “2C-B” and “2C-I,” is a psychedelic phenethylamine similar to MDMA, according to the DEA.
