BPK man had own personal pharmacy

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pine Key man after he was found with a horde of pills, with at least one bottle’s label tampered with. 

Pedro Manuel Torres Perez, 71, is being charged with two counts of possession of a controlled a substance without a prescription.

MCSO became involved after a Florida Wildlife and Fish Conservation Commission officer requested assistance. FWC initially went to assist Torres Perez after they saw his vehicle disabled on the side of the road near Mile Marker 33, when they saw numerous prescription pill bottles in his backseat in plain view.

Deputies examined the bottles, and found one bottle with a tampered label, in which the name portion of the prescription had been removed. This bottle contained a generic form of Xanax, while several other bottles included pills that did not match the prescription label, with one bottle containing Tramidol, a type of painkiller.

Beyond the tampered with or mislabeled pills, more than 800 pills were found in the car. The majority of these pills were painkillers, vitamins or other miscellaneous pills such as ibuprofen.

Torres Perez was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center.
