The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Big Pine Key man for drugs and false identification after he provided someone else’s ID as his own.
Justin Nichols, 31, attempted to pass himself off as a Kentucky resident named “Randy” when approached by an MCSO Deputy. However, Nichols had an arrest warrant from New York for absconding from parole, which came complete with a photograph to help identify him.
The deputy spotted Nichols during a routine patrol in Big Pine Key, according to the report. As he approached him, Nichols claimed his name was Randy, and provided a Kentucky driver’s license with that name.
When the deputy asked for his date of birth, Nichols became agitated and asked why he was being questioned. After he calmed down, he admitted he was not Randy.
After searching Nichols, the deputy found five syringes and two bags of cocaine, weighing a total of 2.3 grams.
Nichols was charged with impersonation by displaying a false ID, impersonation by possession of another person’s ID, giving a false identification to an officer, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The deputy transported Nichols to the Monroe County Detention Center without incident, where he is being held on a $26,000 bond.
