Police arrest woman passed out at eatery

The Key West Police Department arrested a Delray Beach, Florida woman this week for drug possession after finding her passed out in a vehicle ina restaurantparking lot.

Jennifer Ann Vitale, 49, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

An officer found Vitale asleep Monday in the driver’s seat of a car in the IHOP parking lot on Roosevelt Boulevard. According to the report, the door was open with her leg sticking out, and she had an aerosol can in her lap.

Officers woke Vitale, and while they were speaking with her, one of them noticed a pack of open cigarettes with an orange tube inside of the box. When asked what the tube was for, Vitale responded by handing it to the officers and saying “It’s my marijuana.”

Officers then requested a K-9 unit to come search the car. The K-9 dog ultimately alerted officers that more drugs were present in the vehicle. In total, they found .1 grams of crack, 1.1 grams of cocaine, 1.1 grams of marijuana and a crack pipe with a push rod.

Vitale was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center. She was released later that same day.
