On Tuesday, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Tavernier man while serving a warrant, but not before he violently resisted arrest and threatened the deputies’ lives.
Saul Arrazcaeta, 19, was charged with battery on an officer, threats against an officer and resisting an officer with violence.
Deputies arrived at Arrazcaeta’s residence in Tavernier to serve an arrest warrant for petit theft, but he refused to answer the door. After repeated attempts, Arrazcaeta finally answered through a bedroom window, where he told deputies that he wouldn’t come out and to leave and come back with a warrant.
Police gained access to the house and a deputy began informing Arrazcaeta that they had a warrant for his arrest. Arrazcaeta began to resist, and a deputy deployed his stun gun, but Arrazcaeta ran into a bedroom and shut the door.
A deputy forced the door open and grabbed Arrazcaeta in an attempt to take him to the ground. Arrazcaeta violently resisted, kicking deputies and screaming.
While deputies were transporting him to Plantation Key jail, Arrazcaeta began issuing threats to officers, telling them they would die from gun shots. He also implored the deputies to pull over and turn off their cameras so he could fight them.
“I am going to do voodoo on you, do you know what voodoo is?” said Arrazcaeta, according to the report. “You going to die, you all going to die, I am going to make sure you all die.”
Arrazcaeta was placed in the Plantation Key jail, where he was being held on a bond of $2000 for the petit theft.
