Two Miami men were arrested on Thursday after deputies discovered drugs during a routine traffic stop.
Christopher Adolphus Chin II, 24, was charged with possessing a fraudulent ID, two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of marijuana under 20 grams. Kwesi Everett, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana under 20 grams.
Around 3 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled over Chin’s vehicle near the CVS on Stock Island. After making contact with Chin, deputies reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The three occupants of the vehicle were handcuffed and searched.
Deputies found 7.4 grams of marijuana hidden in Chin’s pants. Inside the vehicle were a 1.1 gram marijuana cigarette and a grinder. Furthermore, two partial pills identified as Xanax were located in the vehicle. A shopping bag with a prescription bottle with promethazine and codeine was also found, with the name of the prescription being an individual not found in the car. A search of Chin’s wallet revealed a driver’s license belonging to an unknown person.
The two men were arrested and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center, while the third occupant of the vehicle was released. Once in jail, a search of Everett revealed another 2.4 grams of marijuana. Everett was being held on a bond of $30,000 while Chin was released on Sunday after posting his $20,000 bond.
