Marines arrested in bloody hotel fisticuffs

KEY WEST — Two Marine buddies who served together oversees squared off in a South Roosevelt Boulevard hotel fight early Thursday morning, but no serious injuries were reported by police. 

The two men, ages 34 and 27, were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. 

Officers were called to the Sheraton Suites Key West, 2001 S. Roosevelt Blvd., about 1 a.m. after dispatchers were informed that a verbal confrontation was underway, but when police went to Room 330 they found the two Devil Dogs physically fighting with bloody knuckles and faces as well as blood on the carpet, walls and an A/C vent damaged, according to an arrest report. 

The two men stopped when police made their presence known and one of the men said they were, “Marine veterans of war and they were just having a fight,” reports say. 

The men were arrested and taken to Monroe County Detention Center on Stock Island without incident. 

Reports do not indicate what spurred the brouhaha. The hotel staff stated they wanted to press charges.
